February Field Trips

We have not one, not two, but THREE field trips this month.

  • February 25th we will going to the Oregon Culinary Institute for a formal lunch. While there we will learn all about proper etiquette for formal meals. We will leave school at 11:00 and return before school gets out. Students are to dress in their most formal attire.

  • On February 27th we will be going downtown for the Oregon Ballet Theater's production:

Silence to Big Sound!
Almost Mozart + Bolero
February 27, 2014 / noon - 1pm
Keller Auditorium

The Winter program will explore how dance (and the audience’s experience) is impacted by dynamic variations of music—Silence to Big Sound! Students will see an excerpt of Almost Mozart—a work that was recently performed in Washington DC at the John F. Kennedy Center or the Performing Arts.

Regular uniforms will be worn on this day. Please be sure to send a sack lunch, as we will be getting back after the lunch room has quit serving.

  • February 28th is the school wide field trip Friday. We will leave school at 7:00 AM. That means I need everyone in the room at 6:45. Yes, AM. We will be travelling by bus to Seattle to visit the Experience Music Project. Mr. Littledyke, Mrs. Gausman, and the 3rd grade class will be joining us! We will be returning at 7:00 PM. Students will wear their regular uniform and will need to bring a healthy sack lunch and two hearty snacks.

EMP is a leading-edge, nonprofit museum, dedicated to the ideas and risk-taking that fuel contemporary popular culture. With its roots in rock 'n' roll, EMP serves as a gateway museum, reaching multigenerational audiences through our collections, exhibitions, and educational programs, using interactive technologies to engage and empower our visitors. At EMP, artists, audiences and ideas converge, bringing understanding, interpretation, and scholarship to the popular culture of our time.

If you would like to chaperone any of these trips, please let me know as soon as possible.

Thank you
