Room Cleaning Sign Up

As many of you know, we do not have janitors to clean the classrooms. We ask that each family volunteer once or twice per year to help vacuum, wipe down the counters, and clean out the sink. With your student's help, it takes about an hour tops.

Please visit the sign up genius below to sign up to help. While the sign up genius says 3:30 - 4:30, our class is in PE/Art from 2:00 until the end of the day, so you are welcome to be in the room vacuuming anytime after 2:00.

Thank you!

Conference Sign Ups

Fall parent conferences are held the last week of October and are a chance for us to sit down and discuss hopes, dreams, and possible issues.

Back to School Night Tonight

Tonight is Back to School Night. All parents are invited to join Mrs. Denman in the gym at 6:30 to meet the new staff members and a brief welcome. Parents may then make their way to the classrooms for a 20 minute presentation on classroom expectations and our curriculum for the year. At 7:00 the second classroom presentation will begin so that families with more than one student can see both teachers.

The music room will be open from 5:30 - 6:30 for parents to meet the new music teacher, talk about instruments, etc.

I look forward to seeing you this evening.

Welcome Back

Welcome to the 2014 – 2015 school year! I have very excited to be working with you and your family this year. It will be an exciting year as we prepare for the future, master the skills needed to be successful in high school and college, and build relationships that will help us be better people.
This Thursday is Open House. Open House is an opportunity for students and families to drop off supplies, get a feel for the classroom, ask quick questions, and say hello to friends. The room will be open from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. If that time slot does not work for you, you are more than welcome to bring supplies on the first day of school.
Wednesday, September 3rd is the first day of school. Doors will open at 7:45 a.m. and students should be in their seats by 8:00 a.m. This weekend is a great time to review the uniform policy, get those white shirts out of storage, and take inventory of healthy items for lunches. Our uniform policy and healthy food policy can be found at http://cascadeheights.org/parents/school-policies-procedures.html.  The most troublesome items tend to be nail polish (none), skirt length (touching the knees), and shoes (only white, black, or brown). The healthy food policy applies to all snacks and lunches. We believe that healthy foods help students be their best and builds healthy bones and brains. That is why we ask that cookies, cakes, chips, fruit snacks, etc remain at home. Whole grains, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and lean meats allow students to function optimally throughout the day. If you need ideas for healthy and easy to pack options please let me know! If your student is planning to have school lunch, you can deposit money in their account at http://www.nclack.k12.or.us/Page/1233 or send a check made out to NC12 with your student’s name on the memo line in an envelope.
Students should arrive at 7:45 a.m. with their supplies (if not dropped off on Thursday), lunch, snack, water bottle, and summer homework. Keep in mind that carline on the first day can take a few minutes longer than usual. If you’re planning to park, please make sure you park in a legal parking spot. We want everyone to have a safe and pleasant first morning.
Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 4th. I will be presenting information about our class content, policies, procedures, trips, fundraising, and I will have sign ups for conferences. Back to School Night is also our first fundraiser. We have been given permission to set up a concession stand for the evening. I need 2 student volunteers and at least 1 parent volunteer to man the table during the evening. If you are available, please let me know so we can start planning.
Again, I look forward to working with each of you this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.
